Let's meetup and explore the textures of all the old gardens, fences, buildings and reserves in the area together while we discus camera handling and the delights of urban photography. Out of Focus/Out of Mind - Class

Out of Focus/Out of Mind - Class

Saturday the 4th of June
Ballarat New Cemetery - 10.00am - 3 hours
Unexpectedly out of focus photos sending you out of your mind? Let's get together and explore all things focus. We'll get into the nitty gritty of depth of field, auto-focus, continuous, multi-point and fixed point focus as well as delving a little bit into the art of deliberately out of focus images (Oh yeah! It's a thing!) You'll need your favourite Ballarat cold weather gear, your digital camera, a favourite lens (prime or zoom is fine) and a very portable (visually interesting but not heavy!) prop or two. Feel free to shoot me a message anytime if you have any questions or bright ideas!

Natural Light Portraits in an Urban Setting Photography Meetup

Natural Light Portraits in an Urban Setting Photography Meetup

Saturday the 18th of June
Civic Hall - 2:00pm - 2 hours
Let's get together and explore the key elements for taking beautiful, handheld, portrait photographs in the urban wild using natural light. Using each other as subjects we will explore the amazing built environment around Civic Hall, the Library and GovHub precinct as a backdrop. You will need a camera and your favourite lens as well as a prop or two to enhance your, or your subjects, ensemble. And maybe a snack. As usual don't hesitate to contact me anywhere if you have any questions or bright ideas.

Still Life Photography Meetup

Still Life Photography Meetup

Sunday the 31st of July
Indoors, Central Ballarat - 2:00pm - 2 hours
Who fancies an indoor still life photography workshop in the dark cold days of the Ballarat winter? I'm currently looking for a location in a local pub that can provide us with space and a visually interesting environment. Let's get together and talk about the key aspects of still life, share still life works we admire and then crack on exploring the techniques useful for still life photography. Bring your favourite camera, a static light if you have one (otherwise I have several that we can use on the day), and a favourite prop or two you wish to immortalise. As usual let me know if you have any questions or any bright ideas.

ABOUT BALLARAT
PHOTOGRAPHY
GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.
Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations across the region.
New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month.
And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Ballarat Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

REVIEWS
I have done both of the recent meetups hosted by Kit Fox. I really enjoyed both of them. Kit is a great facilitator and I am looking forward to any other events that she may come up with.

I was very impressed with the presenter and the programme. It started to make sense in a short time after not knowing what to expect or what level of expertise with photography was required. Pleasantly surprised with Kit's patience and great way of imparting her knowledge.

Kit Fox
Kit is a photographer born bred in the western district of Victoria and she firmly believes the best camera you can have is the one in your hands. Her appetite for photography has lead her into all of her best adventures. From her high school darkroom into the pictures collection at the National Library of Australia. She has opinions on everything and considers herself a photographic adventurer. You can see her professional work at @BirdNoisesPhotography and her creative work at @hello.ms.fox both on Instagram. Pssst! Don't forget to ask her about Round The Twist...
