Street art is a unique and colorful art form and can be found in all kinds of nooks and crannies in cities all over the world. Capturing art in the streets in photographs can be tricky because these urban art pieces are in public spaces, that are busy and usually filled with a decent amount of traffic. Sometimes you include the people and sometimes, you don't.

Architecture Photography

Sunday 22 September

Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

The location for the event, National Gallery of Victoria, was excellent as it provided a range of photographic opportunities involving not only exhibits but the architecture of the building and the people in the area. It was definitely nice to set the camera for black and white and to see everything from the perspective of black, white and grey tones when composing shots.

Gabriella was excellent. She was patient with our lack of knowledge of our camera, as well as listening to the skills that we really wanted to learn. Despite differing skill levels she was able to teach both of us new things so that we can now go away confident of using our cameras. I was particularly appreciative of the notes which were easy to follow and well explained.

    Title or Location: Lake Wendouree
On a lovely foggy winters afternoon here in beautiful Ballarat, we went for a drive and decided to go to Lake Wendouree and upon arriving there, there was a beautiful low lying fog and the sky was dimly lit and as we drove past this tree in such lighting with the fog behind it. It took my breath away and I had to capture it's beauty to further enjoy such a beautiful sight. ( Photo taken on a Samsung A04_12mp) FI.8_0.0ev_1/50s_26mm_ISO 100.

I was focusing on a Marsh Harrier and when I put the camera down I saw this Robin perched on the edge of my table. He just stared at me and patiently waited as I reset the camera. I still had my zoom on and almost fell off my seat leaning to get focus. The images of this bird are among my favourite sets....

Castle Hill is an amazing location for Landscape and Astro photography. Used a Nikon Z6ii & 20mm 1.8 lens along with a lens warmer plus the Photo Pills planner. The moon was brighter than expected - 5 days old but it actually did us a big favour in lighting up the rocks with the Milky Way core above it. This is the jpeg with no edits.

I was on a photo workshop in the park with about 8 others. We set up for the night in the Cathedral Overlook campground. At about 3:30 am, the leader got us up and we drove, then hiked to this spot. We took astro shots, then waited in place for a couple hours until early light on the cathedral formations. This is was a merging of the two exposures that created this image.
